Jennifer "Jenna" Taylor is a licensed clinical professional counselor (LCPC) in the state of Maryland and a national certified counselor (NCC). She provides therapy to adolescents and adults through individual, couples, family, and group sessions. Jenna hails from New England, and enjoys cultural diversity, recreational pursuits, time with family and friends, and training her therapy dog.

Education and Counseling Philosophy

Jenna holds a bachelor's degree from Hood College and a master's of science degree in mental health counseling from Shippensburg University. She also has attended many hours of seminars and classes from Postpartum Support International and the Postpartum Stress Center giving her highly specialized training in working with and helping women surviving pregnancy and postpartum mood disorders such as postpartum depression.

As a holistic counselor, Jenna believes that every person is a unique individual and that it is important to consider all of the life factors that may affect how each client experiences and thinks about life. Such factors may include family life, work, social environment, social support, past experiences, physical needs (rest, diet & nutrition, exercise, etc.), spiritual beliefs, and mental well-being. Jenna uses the methods that best meet each client's individual needs, and encourages her clients to be her collaborative partner throughout the counseling process.

Jenna has experience providing therapy for adolescents and adults in individual, couples, and group sessions. Her experience includes: providing mental health and/or situational crisis stabilization as well as ongoing therapy; teaching skills for coping with anxiety and depression, managing stress, improving communication; assisting with the processes of grief and loss and identity development; and providing information on healthy living.

Additionally, she has many years of experience serving in various roles answering the emotional and psychological needs of mothers and their partners before, during, and after the births of their babies. Also, she has spent several years working in nonprofit agencies that provide therapeutic services to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and childhood sexual abuse.
